United States Citizenship Attorneys

For many immigrants, U.S. citizenship is the ultimate goal in their journey to live and work permanently in the United States.

The path to U.S. citizenship is more complex than the path that existed 10 or 20 years ago. In fact, security concerns in just the past several years have increased the challenges facing anyone who wants to become a U.S. citizen.

Worldwide Immigration Practice

At Ronzio & Associates, our lawyers have dedicated their practice exclusively to immigration law. We represent people worldwide and have a significant number of clients from Spanish-speaking countries such as Mexico, Guatemala, Honduras, El Salvador and Argentina. Contact our Los Angeles office to learn more.

Different Roads to Citizenship

The Immigration and Nationality Act, as amended, grants U.S. citizenship to applicants in a variety of cases. Such cases include, by birth in the U.S.; by acquisition at birth to a child born outside of the U.S., where one or both parents are U.S. citizens; by derivation through the Naturalization or U.S. birth of one parent; through a certificate of citizenship; or by submitting and receiving an approval of a naturalization petition.

In a naturalization petition, the applicant must establish that he/she has good moral character for the statutory period. The Department of Homeland Security is not limited, however, by the applicant's conduct and acts at any time prior to that period. Nonsupport of dependents, failure to register with the Selective Service, certain criminal convictions, prior deportations or removals from the U.S. — any of these things may subject the applicant to not only a denial of this petition, but may cause the applicant to being placed in removal proceedings.

The Attorney You Choose Is Important

Due to the continued complexity of immigration laws with respect to naturalization and the exposure to facing a denial of this petition, it is critical to contact an attorney who has extensive specialized knowledge and experience in immigration law. The experienced immigration attorneys at Ronzio & Associates have worked with thousands of people in the United States and across the globe in a wide range of immigration issues, including citizenship, permanent residence cards (green cards), nonimmigrant visas, family-based immigration, employment-based immigration, deportation defense, appeals, and relief in federal district court and the U.S. Court of Appeals.
